Satellite Tracking System

Man portable integrated telescope/robotic mount and satellite tracking system prototype.   System is designed to locate, photograph and develop vector records of satellites and link the known orbit data to the vector records.

Highlights: 

  • Developed database to handle portable FITS images and with enhanced image attribution.
  • Enhanced robotic slewing algorithms to assist in locating satellite while maintaining TLE vector.

Technical Innovations:

Rapid development of software with API for robotic mount,  Apogee camera, and lens filter wheel.  Developed and field tested system within eight months.
