Junior Software Developer

We are looking for a Junior Software Developer to build and implement functional programs for the U.S. Coast Guard. You will work with other Developers and Project Managers throughout the software development life cycle.

In this role, you should be a team player with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills. If you also have experience in Agile frameworks and popular coding languages (e.g. C#.NET), we’d like to meet you.

Your goal will be to build efficient programs and systems that serve user needs.


  • Develop high-quality software design and architecture
  • Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code that follows standards
  • Design relational databases
  • Requirements analysis
  • Unit and integration testing
  • Verification and validation testing
  • Peer test application updates
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
  • Review and debug code
  • Perform validation and verification testing
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
  • Document development phases and monitor systems
  • Ensure software is up-to-date with the latest technologies
  • Write and maintain application documentation

Position Requirements

The ideal candidates will have all of the following:

  • Three (3) years (with a Bachelor’s Degree) and one (1) year (with a Master’s Degree) of professional technical experience in the form of employment history
  • Experience and a strong desire to invent new ways of approaching problems and developing innovative applications
  • Strong skills in debugging and troubleshooting applications to facilitate fixes and improvements
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas to coders, teammates, and management
  • Experience working as part of a team of developers, coders, testers, and CM specialists
  • Experience with the military/DoD a plus, but not required
  • Experience using an Agile development approach is beneficial
  • Familiarity with geospatial web-based map development is a bonus, but not required
  • CompTIA Security+, equivalent or higher (such as CISSP), or willingness to obtain, highly desired
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred (High School Diploma or Associates Degree acceptable for well-experienced candidates)

The successful candidate will have (at least) 2 years of experience in the following:

  • C#
  • .NET
  • Experience with WPF libraries, data access libraries (such as MVC)
  • Telerik Controls for WPF a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Databases a plus
  • Experience with the Esri SDK for WPF a plus

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
