Zekiah Acquires Upper 90
Zekiah Technologies, Inc. announced the acquisition of Upper 90 on April 15, 2011. Upper 90 is a nationally regarded firm specializing in geospatial application development in GIS and CADD formats. Since 1993, Upper 90 has been very closely associated with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE), and has provided virtually all of the current contents of the SDSFIE Toolbox and supports and has written both Web Tools and Services in support of SDSFIE Compliance. Upper 90 Systems continues to host the current SDSFIE Web Site, operates the SDSFIE Help Desk and are developing the next generation of SDSFIE tools. They also provide application development support to other government and commercial clients.
Bill Dollins, partner and Sr. Vice President at Zekiah and a frequent contributor to GISUser.com and other GIS news and blog sites, had this to say about the acquisition of Upper 90. “We are excited to join forces with Upper 90 Systems. Their skills, capabilities and reputation provide a perfect complement to those of Zekiah. The expertise they bring from their long-standing association with SDSFIE and the development of tools to support that effort is a natural extension to Zekiah’s capabilities. Together, we are looking forward to developing new geospatial tools for our customers.”
Barry Schimpf, President of Upper 90 and often considered ‘father’ of the SDSFIE said, “This is the ideal partnership to expand the influence of standards within both the DoD community as well as state and local agencies interested in applying new standards to expanding GIS technologies. We can’t wait to get started.”
