With algorithms driving purchases and clicks all over the internet, nationwide facial recognition systems starting to come online in foreign nations, and autonomous vehicles on the horizon, there seems to be shroud of fear surrounding anything having to do with AI. As summer comes to an end, and we say farewell to our interns (read about Zachary and Jack and William and Kim), it’s important to note the benefits to both employers and job seekers of the internship experience. Zekiah is a company that proudly supports the local workforce. We believe that by training the next generation of workers and leaders, we can help create a qualified workforce. Zekiah accomplishes this through creating meaningful internship programs.
To the outside eye, it may seem like internships only benefit the intern. It’s obvious that they can add a few lines to their resume, snag a handy reference, or get college credit. However, by participating in internship programs, the companies benefit just as much as the intern. The two develop a mutually beneficial relationship.Read More »

I recently offered a job candidate a position where he could work about twenty minutes from his house rather than the hour and half he was commuting currently. The daily work was similar as his current job and I was able to offer him $65,000 per year which was a significant increase from his current pay. Unfortunately for me, he did not take our job offer because once his current employer found he had a new job with us they offered him $74,000 to retain him at his current position!
Our rural area does not pay in same range as jobs closer to the city, so I was not able to increase my offer. Looking at this it seemed like an easy choice, right? They were offering him $9,000 more per year – of course he should take their offer!
But wait… was their offer really better? Read More »
Zekiah Technologies is a small company, and it can be hard to make ourselves stand out from the crowd in the eyes of potential new employees. While salary, health benefits, and vacation days are incredibly important considerations for applicants, I’d like to take the time to talk a little bit about the unquantifiable benefits of working with us: all those little things that can make a company a great place to work but never quite make it into the company description. Zekiah is a prominent employer at NSWC Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) located in King George County, VA. Many of our hires are local residents but we also recruit from outside the area and we are frequently asked, “Why should I move to King George?” Read More »
Driving to Zekiah Technologies for the first time as a new intern, there was only the road and my questions. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the people there and I didn’t know what they were going to expect from me. The questions intensified as I drove. When I finally arrived, my head was buzzing with uncertainties as I turned to see the Zekiah offices for the first time.
Looking at the small unassuming La Plata building that houses offices for Zekiah Technologies it could be hard to imagine why someone might want to work there or even imagine what the company even does. The answer may surprise you. Zekiah Technologies is an innovative small business that focuses on software development, data analysis, geospatial technologies, and more. They are a government contractor that has served many important entities including, the US Coast Guard, the US Navy, the Columbian Navy, and the State of Maryland. Read More »
